Other than Kurokawa Onsen there are recommanded place to go which is near to Kurokawa Onsen.
Since it’s just around 30 minutes from Kurokawa why not go?

Highest suspension bridge in Japan Kokonoe “Yume” Otsurihashi
In Japanese we call suspension bridge as tsurihashi/tsuribashi.
I’m happy if you can be familiar this word tsurihashi in this article.
Kokonoe “Yume” Otsurishi is located at Oita Kokonoecho which is highest walkway tsurihashi.
The height of tsurihashi is 173m and the length is 390m. Ocean level of this area is 777m so the the scenary from here is magnificent.
From Kokonoe “Yume” Otsurihashi you can see Shindou waterfall which has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan and Kyusuikei which is famous for verdure & fall foliage.
This is bridge is made without subsidies of the state or province and the name of this bridge Kokonoe “Yume” Otsurihashi was selected from submission from the public.

The things to see at Kokonoe “Yume” Otsurihashi
As you can see from the photo, there is nothing that interferes with the panorama view from the suspension bridge.
However, if you want to see the spectacular scenery, I think that it is better to come in summer, which is the season of verdure , or autumn, which is the season of fall foliage.
Especially best is to see Kyusuikei which is well known as fall foliage place.
So if you can come to Kokonoe “Yume” Otsurihashi on summer or winter it will be suitable place as for walking pathway in the sky.
Can you notice that in above picture there are 2 waterfall? One at the left side and another is at the right side. Right side waterfall is selected as one of the 100 best waterfall in Japan Shindou waterfall.
Consisting of a male waterfall (left) with a head of 83m and a female waterfall (right) with a head of 93m.
It was named because it is powerful enough to shake the surroundings when there is a lot of water.

Summary
I came in the winter season and it was quite harsh as a tourist season because it was windy and very cold.
But maybe because of that situation the maginificent view was monoply was us and staff.
Staff even said that “Even at the end of operation hour it’s very rare case that only 1 couple of customer is here” so meaning that it might be blind spot during winter.
For the next visit I really demand to come during autumn and see the fall foliage.
